At the end of your hygiene appointment, Monique will apply a fluoride varnish.
You may have nothing to eat or drink for the first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, you may eat and drink but try to avoid foods that are hard, crunchy and sticky/tacky. You will get your maximum benefit from the varnish in the first 4 hours of the application. You may brush off the varnish after 4 hours. If you are a patient that uses a prescription fluoride toothpaste, you may want to discontinue the use of the toothpaste that night since you already had your fluoride at your hygiene appointment.
